Go green and help save the planet
Energy management
regulations and legislations are constantly evolving, and each industry has
different trends and emphases. Navigating through complex regulatory
requirements whilst focusing on the day to day needs of a business can be a bit
of a juggling act. In order to be compliant with the regulations, each
organisation should ensure a systematic approach to their operations. In the
absence of a well defined, structured and well managed compliance program,
companies face the risk of financial penalties from regulatory bodies.
Acufire has a
highly qualified and accredited energy
compliance team. They have extensive experience in looking after
the regulatory needs of the public and private sector. We also conduct energy
audits for companies, which contribute towards positive morale and can have a
positive effect on the wider culture of a business. With pressure mounting on
all organisations to take more social responsibility, most notably with the
decreasing carbon emissions and safeguarding of natural resources, the
government has made energy compliance mandatory. The first step towards energy
compliance is to conduct an energy audit. An energy audit helps a business
identify specific challenges that it may be facing, analyse the makeup of a
building and its energy consumption, and after assessment make recommendations
for necessary changes to the operation and configuration (or composition) of
buildings.
The Benefits of an energy audit
●
Energy audits can help your
business 'go green’, with the introduction of measures to reduce energy
consumption, awarding good PR with a reputation for sustainability.
●
Help to directly reduce your
environmental impact by reducing carbon emissions
●
Help to ensure that your company
is compliant with all current energy reduction legislation set by regulators.
●
An energy audit can help bring
down your energy costs by 25% - or potentially more.
Acufire can help
your business be more environmentally friendly, an increasingly desirable goal
for us all in 2020 and beyond. One of the services we provide under the
umbrella of energy compliance is a TM44 Inspection. Since 4 January 2011, the
Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) has made it mandatory for all
organisations with air conditioning systems that feature a cooling capacity of
over 12kW to have an inspection - called a TM44 Inspection. Such air
conditioning systems must be inspected every five years by an energy assessor
to ensure that it is still performing efficiently. Neglecting such an
inspection can result in a fine of £300 per offence, with an additional £200
added upon failure to provide an outstanding TM44 Inspection report within 7
days of request.
Who is affected? - All
businesses with an air conditioning rated output of more than 12kW - this
includes systems whose individual units are less than 12kW but the cumulative
rated output is more than 12kW.
What does the TM44 inspection entail?
As per TM44 Inspection
regulations, an inspection should be carried out by an energy assessor in an
independent manner to avoid any conflict of interests.
●
A visual assessment of the air
conditioning system
●
Examination of its components and
controls
●
Recommended efficiency
improvements and recommendations for alternative solutions
What is the need for a TM44 inspection?
●
Improve efficiency
●
Reduce energy consumption
●
Reduce operating costs
●
Reduce carbon emissions
●
Examine refrigeration performance,
air and water movement equipment.
●
Examine documentation to ascertain
how well a system has been maintained
How can we help?
For us all to
contribute towards reducing carbon emissions, we must do our bit to reduce
energy consumption. If you are unsure if air conditioning in your building
requires a TM44 Inspection, contact us today to find out how we can help. At
Acufire our goal is to create healthy and safe, environmentally friendly
buildings that operate efficient air conditioning systems with the help of our
TM44 Inspections.
